January...

Back to work and right into it!!! My first road trip of the year and I n e e d e d my c o f f e e!! The problem though with having coffee in a giant mug, is that when you need to drive 2 1/2 hrs to get to the first meeting, and you leave home late (stupid) when you then need to stop and pee you are angry and stressed. Yup silly me, next time I will factor in a rest break... maybe
This beautiful tree on our block looks magical when the sun shines through the leaves. I adore sitting in our old faded outdoor chairs and looking up into the canopy of this tree.
This tree I dislike immensely most of the year, due to the fact it is very spiky! But when it is in flower the butterflies flock to these trees and they are so calming to watch flitting about from flower to flower. Butterflies are terribly lovely.
This my dears is what it looks like when you have just poured nearly 10 cubic metres of concrete to create a slab! Yay for us the first step in the building process is well underway! This weekend we have started to create the wall structure. Well J has, I supervise mostly... Or swing in the tissu's.

Cement/Concrete

This is what I took part in on Saturday. For those of you who do not recognise this business, this is what is otherwise known as 'Pouring a Slab'.
This is in fact the slab for our very own shed, as we do not need a slab for the house. I am glad this task is out of the way, now comes the fun work of actually building said shed...
I have found I am much better as a general staying out of the way supervisor rather then a helper... Though I did hold a shovel for a time and endeavour to assist. I am so grateful that some of my family came to aid us in our time of need. Otherwise it may have taken several hours more!

Hi-Yah

Wow massive hiatus. not that it matters particularly. This is no life or death blog. Work has been keeping me busy as i work in tourism, so when summer comes so do the tourists. Being that not only are there more tourists anyway, but our particular attraction is most attractive also helps.

Anyway, so I have been doing a bit of online shopping lately. Victorias Secret and Decormyeyes. I got these beautiful Burberry sunnies off Decormyeyes after my sister got some Bvlgari ones which turned out to be such a great buy.
I get a little VS crazy every now and then. Usually whenever they send me a catalog... Anyhoodle, I ended up getting some work pants, t-shirts, bras, undies and beauty stuff. Cant wait for it all to arrive. I am always so impressed with the quality of their stuff. Actually do you know what. I may have blogged about this previously. Have I?

Ok well off to search online for some bridesmaid shoes for a wedding I will be in soon. Wish me luck and if you can recommend a place to find off white slightly strappy satin-y shoes then let me know!

Yesterday was another exciting day driving all over the state on visits. When driving it always makes me feel better when the weather is nice. The road is safer, people drive better and the view from the window is more encompassing. Though I do live in a place of very unpredictable and as such you will notice the clouds and rainbow in the first picture which is what the afternoon turned into.

Today I am sharing with you a couple of views from my day and you can pretend like you came for a drive with me.

Dads

Universe, "Please can you communicate to me something that I could get for my dad for Christmas this year?"
"Actually while you are at it, could you also please let me know what to get J?"

Boys are so hard to shop for. What do you get for people who only want things that cost about $500 or more? For J I want to get him something to keep, something personal, not a cordless drill. Every year for my dad, my sister and I end up getting him these expensive socks he wears and apricot bits and stuff like that. not super thoughtful gifts.

This is my current conundrum which is occupying a significant amount of brain space. as aside from these couple of gifts I am pretty much done. I would like to be completely finished now so that I can think about other things.

For example, the fact that our building plans are in for approval. Or that public liability insurance is going to cost us $1500. Or that my friend who I have not seen since her wedding will be able to meet up with me hopefully later in December!

So since it is the final day of November, Happy December everyone. Hope all your Christmas shopping is very nearly done!

Ok so, I have a massive thing for ducks. How cute are they? I alway get super excited when I see little ducklings when I go for my morning jog. I want them to come live at my house, but I think our dam might be a little too small for them!
I also like baby swans and I am glad to see that our nearby native wetlands promotes so many babies.

In other completely unrelated news. The engineer has signed off on our plans so we are submitting our mountain of paperwork for building approvals today!!!

Soooo exciting. If you have ever built your own home you will know exactly what I am speaking of!

Etsy

I have just completed 90% of my Christmas shopping in under an hour. This my friends is the beauty of Etsy.com. It is so fabulous and ordering from them is a breeze. Parcels usually come in good time and everything comes beautifully wrapped (usually). One of my favourite searches is always "bird".
Bird motifs are very popular at present and the most delightful gifts can be found here.
I also like to search for 'leather handbags'... But that is more for me!

Go and have a look right now, that is unless you are on a shopping ban. If you are then do not click the link!

Blooming

"I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud,"

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,

When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

~William Wordsworth, 1804

Wedding Bells

Well, ok, so there weren't any bells as the wedding was not in a church. It was actually in a garden which was soooo lovely at this time of year. The theme was high tea, and though most people weren't drinking tea, the table setting looked amazing and there were brightly coloured flowers in tea pots on all the tables.

The food was fabulous finger food and the wine was free flowing. All the brides close friends and family attended and a great night was had by all.

The garden was decorated with paper lanterns and fairy lights. At night the place looked magical.
I really like attending weddings, they always feel so exciting and I love to dance around and drink lots of sparkling wine (which I don't ordinarily drink). Weddings are more fun because you get a sense of duty to have fun and everyone is feeling so loving.

I can't wait til March for the next one!

Chicken Party

I had such a great weekend, but now I am tired due to lack of sleep.

I had a hens party for one of my very best friends, and I had a lots of vested interest in this particular party as I am her Maid of Honour.

I have to say that we actually really pulled the day off fantastically! (is that a word?)

We had a wine tour during the day with several stops at amazing Tasmanian wineries including, Pipers Brook, Iron Pot Bay and Bay of Fires. We had an amazing lunch at Pipers Brook, and an amazing day and the rain held out for the whole of it.

Then in the evening we went out for dinner to a little tavern and had a delicious dinner and the staff were incredibly accommodating! followed by a jaunt out into the town where everyone danced like crazy people (or was that just myself??)

The picture above is my sister and myself being nuts and tossing our hair. (also my bra is showing, but it is possibly I was having too much fun to notice.)

Hens Parties are fun, I cant wait to have my own!!!
