Sutra: Christmas

So this was my Christmas!
No food photos because I am always way too busy eating to take pictures of what it is we are eating! But it was all delicious and amazing! Everything just seems to taste better on Christmas day than any other day!

When we arrived at the shack on Christmas eve the wind was up, so John rigged up the windsurfer to go and have a good old crack at something he has not done in about 2 years due to house building taking priority! It's something he really loves and is very good at actually! But he had some pretty sore muscles the next day!

Looking good out there! In the bay gliding over the water!

As my partcipation in Christmas lunch, I provided Sangria (copious amounts) and truffles. What did we all learn from this experience? Don't let me make the truffles! They were the size of golf balls! Delicious, but huge! Also extremely not good looking! Oops!

Here we are being super gooses! With the hats and streamers!

This cracker guy climbed the truffle. It was a hard slog, but he made the peak that day.

Good bye you beatiful place you! I will miss you 100% until the next time!

Sutra: Winter

No wonder I am so cold these last few days!
But on the other hand maybe we will have a good snow season this year!

Sutra: Oh Yesterday

Feeling very meloncholy and cos this is my blog I am sharing... Yesterday, 4 years ago, one of my favourite people in the world died. A nice kid, only 18. He was loved by so many people and is still missed daily by many.

I love you and I miss you. The world needs more nice guys like you! Normal kids with problems just like anyone else. Boys who love their family and let their cousins pluck their mono brow. Who bake cupcakes and go swimming in the rain. An amazing person and a friend.

Then today 4 years ago, I graduated. It was a less than joyous occasion.

That's all I got for today.
Other than to tell you: the weekend starts here!

Sutra: So Shiny!

One of my jobs in this enterprise was to pick all the fittings. Apparently I like chrome! We ordered most of our stuff from reece.com.au. If I had my time again I probably wouldnt use Reece. We will be getting out final little things like towel rails etc from Robert Ferguson in Launceston. When we ordered from them they had our stuff in after only about a week and they were so easy to deal with and gave us a call as soon as we could come in and collect our stuff. Reece on the other hand... Well we waited about 3 weeks and didnt hear anything from them. When we called we found out that they actually had most of our order, but no one had notified us. They were also missing a few things. Then we have been waiting another week or 2 and had to call them again to see if the rest was in and they didn't even know what we were still waiting on! So I had to check our quote against what we actually had and email them to say what we were missing. So, yeah. Annoying! I am happy with the stuff i got from them, it's all just lovely, but i am annoyed at having to constantly chase them!

Our shower rail is a nikles shower rail from reece.com. It's so shiny! It has a great flat head which has a mirror surface on the back, which is good so I can check for mascara residue!
The taps for our bath and basins are from the Phoenix - Kubus range also from reece.com. I love the squareness of them! Very much like our house!
A Mizu 1700 Gooseneck tap for the kitchen, also from reece.com is what we have for our kitchen. It's soooo pretty! I can't wait to start using all my nice stuff!
Mizu kitchen sink. Its a sink. I dont really like the draining racks in most sinks so this one has a nice neat and minimal draining rack.
This one is a little different, its a Vitra - Piu Due squarer bowl basin from rodgersellers.com.au unfortunately I don't think they carry this basin anymore. It's huge! Which is good so I dont splash water everywhere... Or thats the plan anyway.
These are our main light fittings. They are called Surf lights and we got them from casamonde.com.au which is located in Hobart, Tasmania. They are just gorgeous on the wall, very simple but they light beautifully! I really didnt want ceiling lights or down lights. Down lights are a little overdone nowadays and use a fair bit of power and ceiling lights are a bit boring! So wall lights it is!

So there you go. These are the fittings we have and they are lovely!
It's ok to be jealous.

Sutra: The Chosen Colour

So this is the colour we have gone with.
It's called Vanilla Quake 1/4 which somehow looks kinda pinkish when you compare with white but is actually a more beige-y colour. Oh well poor J now will be living in a girlyfied house!

Yep, so you cant tell at all what colour it is can you?

Sutra: Painting Progress

Well....
Painting is coming along quite nicely thankyou very much! As you can see our house is looking very white with a slightly yellowish cast to it! The undercoat is slightly yellow, which i dislike. I also dislike painting the undercoat on with a brush around the edges. Its a very very thick undercoat, kinda the texture of clag glue, or custard (:-S). So its a pain to paint on. Rolling is not so bad because with a roller it spreads much better!

Hallway

Master bedroom (my room!!!!)

Hallway from the other direction

Sneak peek at our super awesome fittings and stuff!! Toilets and sinks and taps and stuff! Yay!

Sutra: Going back in time

This is what happens at the beginning of spring. All these lovely flowers come out and make their home at the block! I loved the justaposition of the lovely little purple flowers with the barbed wire, these flowers were growing in a few places all down the fence. They are probably a weed, but they look lovely!

My cute little car is nearly a 4wheel drive! It made it around the back of the house, which is no easy feat!

This is my desk at my new work the first week i started! Very interesting huh...

Another pretty view of my house for you to gasp at its lovelyness

My car before the little silver one :( got stolen and burnt! Of all the bogan things that could happen. This pretty much tops it all!

Snow on the mountain in winter
More snow.

This is how cool people put up plaster! With great difficulty in fact! J actually welded up this special plaster hoisting device on to an old hospital bed!

My first trip in my new little car. Yes i took this picture while driving. Dont tell me you have not done the same!

My last day at the old office! And my biiiiiiig bag i was given by my old boss! I am in fact trying to fit inside the bag. I mean, thats what you are supposed to do right?

My old work view! Just had to show you and also remind myself how lovely it was!

So thats it. I am actually rushing as i am off up the block now!
Using a new app (for me) called draftcraft to edit this post. It has a few failings...

Sutra: So... What's up?

I have not posted in a million years! Sorry about that... I just was not feeling it!
This is what's been happening lately. Including getting a new job which I love!
Plastering our house... Which is not fun at all! You should all know this and then don't do it! It's messy and dusty and plaster dust is hell on hair!!!

Lovely flowers from my work colleague as a thank you for doing her makeup before a super fancy awards dinner we went to with the other 'corporate office' staff

Me doing my best impression if a gypsy... or something. As I said, plaster is really really bad for your hair. If you like dry shampoo, you might like to get a little bit from a building site and try rubbing it in your roots... or not. I will let you decide.

A Hallway... Amazing yeah? I think the last post I did was back in April and maybe we just had the timber studs? Well look! Now all those studs have plaster on them! Way big improvement

This here is the dining area. See a fireplace on the left right there? Thats where we can cook sausages and potatoes. (I sanded this whole room and now I have to paint it. Envy me at all?)

Breakfast with some girls because one of said girls (the one on the left) was down for a few days from a place which will remain unmentioned, because she doesn't like it! Mine is the biggest!

This is the sexy J having a nanna nap. He can nap like nobodies business. I on the otherhand cannot. It is one of the great mysteries of the universe as to why I cannot sleep during the day, in a car or just about anywhere else.

And thats all I have for now. I dont want to overload you on my first blog back in ages with my awesome boringness. I will save that for next time.
You can thank me via twitter - @kamachameleon0

Sutra: Beige....

I am not a fan of beige really... But seeing it on our house looks good! Because you know what this means? It means that out house is very nearly water and wind proof!!!! eeeeeee!

See how fab it is looking! Admit it, your jealous!

Sutra: Outdoor Walls and Floor

Well, I haven't been around much lately.
Thats because every waking moment when I am not sleeping or at work I am at the block.

As you can see we have been busy! You will notice that we now have decks which you can actually walk on! Great huh!

We have actually also done a bunch more cladding since, and seeing as J will be working his cute butt off over the 4 day easter break I bet that we will have a bunch more done.

I will assist by eating left over chocolate and endeavoring not to distract him from his purpose by whining at him every 10 minutes that we should be going to the beach... Hard work.

Aside from the necessary I have also recently been reading alot. Which though it may sound like a fine thing to do. When I read it becomes like an obsession so much so that I don't sleep because I am busy making up plot lines in my head and I sneak peeks in traffic, while driving, while at work and where ever else I can find 10 seconds.
I read The Hunger Games, I didn't like it (don't kill me). I didn't like the way it was written especially the second and third book. I felt that the author didn't make full use of the characters. I felt like the used them as a scapegoat so she didn't have to write about stuff she couldn't be assed to expand on. I am probably being way harsh. Truth be told I was in love with them while I was reading them... Then about halfway through the second book I started getting annoyed.

I also read this series by Jennifer Rardin. Completely great and funny. Then I started reading these books by P.C and Kristen cast, The House of Night series which is pretty good. Then I came across the Tempest series by Nicole Peeler and I super giggled at these. Now I am reading Evermore by Alyson Noel. Which I am not yet convinced I am enjoying. It's very ponderous. See a theme? Yep, cos I find the name of a new series while I am looking in iBooks for the other authors books. So I will continue on with this theme for a little bit longer until I run out of decent stuff to read. (OK so it's not all that decent. Don't judge)

Now that you understand I am completely and totally nutso, please enjoy this sunset

Sutra: Arachnophobic's should look away...

I don't like spiders. They are fine as long as I can't see them. But I have some photos of spiders who have been in my life recently to share with you. But first lets look at some highland plant life...

This native highland plant thing is lovely. I love the pink and pale turquoise-ey colouring. I actually would like to incorporate that pink into my house some how...

This moss is terribly interesting. I love moss, which is strange, I know. But I actually think its really lovely. This moss looked soft like a little green pillow, but up close it has spiky leaves, and to touch it's hard like a rock is underneath. But there is not. I checked!

Ok now for the spiders...

Ew. yuck. Your trying to hide. But you should know I see you. And if you come near me I have a shoe and I am not afraid to use my whole body's weight (not insignificant) to crush you.
*disclaimer: I prefer not to crush spiders, I am from the school of 'live and let live' and I feel bad if I do squish them... But if it was a life or death situation.... well

Ok your not too bad. Just please do no crawl near me...

Argh! What the feck are you doing in my car. In the dark. While I am driving. Don't you have some place other to be? Like outside?

Ew ew ew ew ew
*I did not squish any of these spiders. The one in my car I actually managed to flick out with my shoe this morning. I took approx 2 minutes of mumbling to my self and swiping with shoe before it fell out.

Now, aren't you glad I shared all that with you. It was very insightful, and kinda made my stomach turn.

Ok, now think about moss.... Much better
